Toyota has recently registered two new trademarks in India – Raize and Raize Space. These names could potentially be used for the rebadged versions of Maruti Brezza or Maruti Fronx. Last year, Toyota had also registered the name Toyota Taisor for the same purpose.
In the Global market, Toyota Raize is a compact SUV that is around 4 metres in length. The name Raize seems catchier than Urban Cruiser and can help Toyota in making a successful re-entry into the sub compact SUV space. Toyota may be planning to launch both 5 and 7 seater versions under the Raize branding, which could be the reason behind registering the name Raize Space as well.

Toyota has been rebadging and selling Maruti cars for some time now, including the Urban Cruiser based on the Brezza. However, it did not do well in the market and was discontinued in November last year. Toyota is now looking to strengthen its presence in this segment by launching the newly released Hyundai.
Toyota Raize is expected to borrow the K15C, 1.5 litre petrol engine from Brezza which generates 98 bhp of maximum power and 136 Nm of peak torque. Transmission choices include 5 speed manual and 6 speed automatic. Power and torque output is slightly higher with the smart hybrid variants of Brezza.
Features of Toyota Raize will be similar to Brezza, with a 9 inch touch screen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It will also have a sunroof, wireless charging, dual LED projector headlamps, laser rapid steering wheel, and many other great features.
