In India there is a boom in the electric vehicle market, so every carmaker jumps into this segment and makes their electric car. In the previous year, Mahindra showcased their born electric SUVs in August 2022 in the UK.
Now Mahindra just confirmed that these cars will be shown at the Mahindra EV Fashion Festival in Hyderabad on 10th February 2023. It is the first time in India that Born Electric SUVs of Mahindra will arrive in India.
Mahindra will introduce five electric SUVs in two sub brands – XUV and BE. The BE is the all new electric brand of Mahindra. All born electric SUVs named – XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09. These SUVs used the Mahindra’s dedicated INGLO EV platform, this platform is dedicated to the Mahindra’s electric SUVs.
Mahindra confirmed that these SUVs will offer 60 kWh and 80 kWh battery capacity with the range of 230 bhp to 395 bhp of power output. Mahindra born electric SUVs comes with both powertrains – RWD (Rear wheel drive) and 4WD (4 Wheel drive).
According to Mahindra, these SUVs will likely be launched in 2024 and 2026. In the present, Tata is the electric vehicle segment leader, its Nexon EV is the most popular car in India whose price starts from Rs 14.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mahindra currently has one electric SUV in India. The XUV400 is based on the XUV300 which is a rival to the Tata Nexon EV. Mahindra XUV400 price starts from Rs 15.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom). At the launch of this SUV, the company said that the introductory price of the SUV is only applicable for the first 5,000 booking.
