Chinese automaker BYD (Build Your Dreams) recently started delivering its BYD Atto 3 electric car in India. BYD will become the number one EV car maker in the world in 2022. In India, BYD currently offers two electric cars – Atto 3 and e6.

At the Auto Expo 2023, BYD revealed its electric sedan Seal and now BYD officially listed its Seal in its Indian website. In the global market (US and China) Seal gets a huge popularity and it becomes the rival of Tesla Model 3. So if you’re planning to buy an electric sedan then you should keep an eye out for the BYD Seal.

BYD Seal is offered with two battery options – 61.4 kWh and 82.5 kWh. The smaller battery pack will promise a range of 550 km and the bigger battery pack will promise a range of 700 km from a single charge. This electric sedan sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. It gets an impressive 50:50 weight distribution that will make your drive easier.

The Electric sedan comes with single motor and dual motor powertrains. The single motor can be paired with both battery packs and the dual motor can be paired with a bigger battery pack. Single motors variants have RWD (Rear wheel drive) that generates a maximum power of 200 bhp with a smaller battery and the bigger battery generates a maximum power of 310 bhp.

The Dual motors variant gets AWD (All wheel drive) with a bigger battery where the motor equipped with front produces a maximum power of 218 bhp and the one on the rear produces a maximum power of 312 bhp.

BYD Seal is equipped with ePlatform 3.0 and it is the first EV to use BYD’s CTB (Cell to body) technology which makes this EV more stable and safe. It is claimed that BYD Seal is the only EV battery to have passed the Mount Everest nail penetration test.

In terms of design BYD is inspired by Porsche Taycan. It has a coupe like design with sloping roof, split headlamps, wire-frame LED DRLs, aggressive front and an air intake below it. From the side it gets flush handles, 18 inch stylish alloy wheels and a sloping roofline.

In the features department, BYD seal offers a rotating 15.6 inch infotainment system, 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster, head up display, panoramic sunroof, air purifier and daytime running LED. It will compete with Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Volvo XC40 Recharge.
